Manor room numbers and layout - a suggestion

It just struck me - we've been randomly assigning rooms and conveniently ignoring stating the floor or room number. ;)

While I don't want to put a cap on the number of rooms available, obviously, I do hope to minimise continuity problems (for example, and I'm making this up, Uriel descending two flights of stairs from his room to go to the lobby, but Gabriel going up two flights of stairs from the library, which is on the second floor, to visit Uriel in his room). Plus, knowing where characters are in relation to yours might facilitate some interaction and thread ideas. :D

My idea: this post/thread will be a list - leave a comment stating which room your character is in, and I can link to it from the timeline post or something.

So if you guys agree that we should keep a list of who's in what room, the description of the Manor is here. I understand that you might want to take a while to think about the location and also choose a number with some significance to your character - while I have decided Gabriel's room is on the third floor I am still thinking about the number.

Plus, at some unforeseeable point in the future, I plan to draw a rough map to standardise the layout of the ground floor (for the ballroom, restaurant, bar etc) for the same reasons as keeping track of the room numbers. I'm not going to attempt the rest of the Manor. ;)

Edit: I've added a link to this post in the timeline post, but if you can think of a better location I'll change it (or get Fox, Ricky or Muri to change it if it needs mod powers ;) )

Other notes: Gabriel will most often be found in the library between about ten AM to about six-thirty PM, allowing for his lunch and tea breaks. Rose should usually be found at reception, I think, and Joe is in charge of the bar. (it'd be great if I could get a rough estimation of working hours, since we may have the odd guest who turns up before the sun rises or at 3AM or whatever XD)

Loki is in 109 on the first floor (which is the one above the ground floor) and on every floor there are rooms that are still waiting for or under renovation, so we can always expand the manor.

Mode was going to draw us a plan of the entire manor, but unfortunately she didn't get very far. :(

I'm not bothered where Daniel's room is. And Adam doesn't stay in the manor so doesn't have a room of his own.

The Sphinx has a smallish room somewhere high. So, let's say 303, just because 3 is just a nice number for stories.

well Aziraphale and Crowley have smaller rooms with a shared large bathroom (oh Ms. Hodges xD) so they'd be on the second floor. As for specific numbers, I can just imagine Crowley choosing the room furthest down the hall, so whatever that is, give that one to Crowley and the one next to it to Aziraphale ^^0

Rose will want to live as close to the ground as possible and thus will take a room on the first floor. I like the number 111 (no significance to Rose whatsoever), so that'll be her room number.

Argh, checking old threads shows me that Joe Dawson has gotten Room 203 by Mary Hodges. I'm afraid this thread is of not much use if people don't write their room number down.

According to that thread I read (as Methos wants a room easy to get to when drunk after a night with Joe), Joe has 203 and Duncan 106.

So Murdoc will have to be put in another room, I'd say 204.
And we really need a complete list if this isn't to happen again.

Hmm. I have a ton of accounts, and I trust you guys enough, so since I don't really use my War account (blooksoakedsky) much (alternatively, I could use my Pollution account, arsenicis4ever), I suppose I could make a post under her account at MP and do a list of rooms, which I'd link to in the timeline.

I'd share the account password with everyone in LTSH, or at least the mods, and I'd edit and if I forget you guys can go make edits to it whenever someone new joins and gets a room?

Orrr I could just make the post under my Gabriel account, and keep it updated by constantly referring to this post, and hound everyone who hasn't stated which room their character is in. XD

Popping in terribly, terribly late to suggest two things:

1) Make a post with room numbers and then names. Personally, I'm finding it a bit difficult to sort through all the comments here and posts in the community in search of available and taken room numbers (especially since some of them are by players who I think are no longer active). A list format would be much easier to follow. Something simple like:
102 - Belial
106 - Duncan
110 - Raphael
203 - Joe Dawson
204 - Murdoc
and so on, in numerical order.

2) Perhaps create a LTSH-mod account that multiple people have the password to so more than one person can work on things like the timeline and room number posts?

Hopefully you will come up with a helpful solution! (The reason I suggested a mod account is because it's what I ended up doing in my community to keep track of the massive list I was running there - it's much, much easier with more than one person helping, especially since we know you are going to end up bogged down with A-levels, and then you will be on vacation.)

XD Well, I'm already doing the timeline, so it's okay. Still, I suppose we could do the room account under the safehouse_guest account... )that's the NPC account) so at least the mods would have access to it. Or I could simply edit this post to feature a list instead.

War’s somewhere on the first floor, near 109, from what I remember.
Michael’s in 309 according to his arrival thread.
Jarod’s in 310, Atlan appears to be on the first floor, Artemis and Aphrodite somewhere on the third.
I’ll try to get them to add their numbers.

Ricky has a map that she’s promised to scan later. Then it should be possible to place Aziraphale and Crowley as well.
