Well there's no harm in it, unless he's deliberately trying to Fell him. But if he just wants to have a little fun... or is interested in pursuing a relationship... You know, no need to smite him.

Besides, for all we know he has a shrine to the nerd in his room but won't admit it because SOMEONE keeps threatening him! (And for once that someone isn't ME! O_O)
