Sep. 3rd, 2010 11:29 pmYour Age: I've decided I won't be coy about my age: I'm 32.
Country/Time Zone: ECT - And since it's going to come up sooner or later anyway: I'm from Germany
A short introduction: I studied with Ricky and Chris, and Ricky has charmingly press-ganged me into joining the game. She knows I can't really resist an interesting character in an interesting situation. One other thing I should probably mention is that most other posts will probably be written be my Secretary Dragon, a little red Chinese dragon who jumps up and down on the keyboard to my dictation unless he gets his own ideas. (I use Dragon Naturally Speaking) I'll always proofread but I might not always catch some of Dragon's weirder ideas. So if anything in my posts is really, really weird, ASK ME.
Any previous RPGs: I guess the answer to that one is "Not really", apart from one session of a German pen and paper roleplaying game and some one-on-ones with Ricky.
Fanfic you've written: I'm not a writer, I'm a reader.
Other references: I do naalbinding and origami sometimes, but as of yet no pictures. Maybe I'll upload a pair of not-quite-matching socks later.
Your character: "Just Driver" - Nikolai Luzhin
Fandom he's from: Eastern Promises.
Why did you pick him: He's an interesting guy. Or should that be "interesting"? I also asked Ms. Marple, but she was too busy pushing up the daisies. She said she couldn't be spared.
How did he get to Lower Tadfield: He's looking for a real estate - His boss believes that the Transsiberian restaurant needs to branch out and took a liking to the manor. Nikolai is supposed to convince Adam to sell.
What will he do when he gets there?: He'll look around, assess things and the inhabitants.
Anything else you'd like to tell us: Nikolai is an FSB agent who's currently on loan to Scotland Yard to investigate the Russian Mafia in London undercover. He is/was the driver of the boss's son but managed to maneuver the boss into prison and is now in fact acting chief, although nominally still his boss's (i.e. the former boss's son's) junior partner.
Like all vory, he wears the story of his life and crimes on his body in the form of tattoos, though they probably were somewhat prettier before they got cut up rather badly in a knife fight. For those who can read them, his tattoos mark him as king of the thieves and an accomplished assassin. The only tattoos that are visible when he's fully dressed are the ones on the knuckles and back of his hands.
He wears immaculate Armani suits at all times and usually matching sunglasses.
He drives a sleek, black Mercedes. Don't ask me about the model. Ask him. He knows.

Date: 2010-09-03 09:49 pm (UTC)Welcome on mad prophecies and I'm looking forward to meeting Nikolai.
Let's start the questioning: what does Nikolai smell like? Because Rose will do her best to get his scent, as with everyone.
And does he have an opinion on werewolves?

Date: 2010-09-04 01:51 am (UTC)He sounds like a fascinating guy, although I haven't watched the film myself.
Your writing is perfectly readable, going by this post, so Secretary Dragon is doing his job. :B
Well, the million dollar question in regards to this setting: What will he think about the supernatural entities hanging around the place?
Looks like the gremlins chewed up a vital answer
Date: 2010-09-05 07:32 pm (UTC)So, I'll just repeated it in the hope that it sticks around this time:
Nicolai will probably see supernaturals, as lunatics and leave them in peace as long as they pose no threat. He is both religious and superstitious so he will give them the benefit of a doubt, awarding them a little more respect than he usually would to nut cases. I don't think there are big differences in the way he would react to various supernaturals other than the fact that his respect for angels and demons might be a little more marked.
Nicolai's smell very masculine and probably a met mixture of tobacco from cigarettes, Russian cooking, leather and hints of motor oil and gasoline. I don't think Nikolai uses strong scents. Any deodorant smells would be very high end, matching his wardrobe.

Date: 2010-09-06 03:16 pm (UTC)*waves* Hi, I'm Brie, and I play both Gabriel and Belial. And Mary Hodges, when she's needed. What do you mean, his respect for angels and demons would be a little more marked? Like, if he met Gabriel with his wings out and all and Gabriel said hi and struck up a conversation, how would he respond?
Re: Looks like the gremlins chewed up a vital answer
Date: 2010-09-09 09:47 pm (UTC)It is a bit difficult to answer question without being in the actual situation. Nikolai's reaction depends on several factors such as who he's met before or whether he has already recognized that the supernaturals are really supernatural. In any case, I don't think Nikolai would be comfortable in Gabriel's company. Nikolai isn't a nice person after all. If he cannot avoid it unobtrusively, he will probably try and keep the chat as short as possible without being impolite. If he still believes Gabriel to be crazy, he will probably be a little less respectful, aiming more at keeping Gabriel calm than to be polite.

Date: 2010-09-11 09:52 pm (UTC)Yes, Nikolai is a reaction to Belial will be similar to his reaction to Gabriel. Even though I doubt that Nikolai would think them to be a benign nut case, Nikolai would not confront him unless it was necessary to achieve his goal and he was sure that he could take him on. If he was convinced that Belial of was indeed a demon, he would probably take great pains to avoid him. (There is no shame in avoiding a demon after all.) Regardless of what he thinks of the him, he'd be polite to keep him calm, but there would be an edge to his demeanor indicating that he was no pushover.
