A short introduction:
Hi I’m Kat and I’m an Art and Design student. This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this, but I love Good Omens so I thought I try it. J

Egyptian Mythology
Why you picked this particular character:
Because he’s my favorite Ancient God and you’ve not got anyone from that Pantheon yet.
How did they get to Lower Tadfield:
He may be a God but he’s willing to hitchhike.
What your character is likely to do there:
Explore he’s not been in this part of the world before, get to know beings from outside his own Pantheon, and generally enjoy himself.
How do you expect them to react to the other characters already there?
Given that the Romans conquered Egypt I reckon that he’d at the very least know the names and titles of some of the Greek/Roman Pantheon, he may have even met some of them (that’s up to their players), beyond that he’d probably get along with any dogs lovers; but may not get on with some of the angels the Ten Plagues of Egypt is still a sore subject.
Any plot ideas you might already have:
Not yet, but I welcome any ideas.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about your character:
Um I’m not shore if this is the place to mention it but the Egyptians only showed Anubis in two forms a Jackal and a Jackal headed man; I assume that it would be alright if he had an all human form as well even if its not so in myth, after all he’s a God so he must be able to change his form at least a bit- is it OK if I do this?

Date: 2010-08-24 09:30 pm (UTC)I assume having a jackal-haeded man around would draw unwelcome attention even in Lower Tadfield, so as far as I am concerned a pure-human aspect to wear when around mere mortals would be welcome.
Apart from that, at this time mainly logistic/technical questions from me:
Do you use AIM/ICQ?
Have you been reading in the game a bit already?

Does Anubis have an opinion on werewolves?
And what would he smell like to Rose with her heightened senses? How powerful is he (Rose as a werewolf can sense power/dominance in a way. No details or anything, just a general idea as she would need it in a pack to find out whom she could take on and who not)?
If he ever met her in fur-form (which is a very large white dog that looks to most humans like it has wolf blood somewhere done the lineage) how would he react?

Does Anubis still smell the same as a jackal, or does he smell of jackal then? Not that I think there are any jackals in Canadia, so I don't think Rose would be able to identify the scent of a jackal. But would he smell more animal-like to her?

Date: 2010-08-24 10:59 pm (UTC)And yes it would depend what happened when they met, Anubis seems to be one of the more stable Gods of the Egyptian Pantheon, but Gods can be temperamental and wolves are quite a bit bigger then jackals so he could feel intimidated if he met her in her fur-form. But lets see. ;)
I'd say that the Jackal smell on him would be like that of a dog or fox and the other smells are more of an underlying sent that you could pick up on.

Date: 2010-08-25 11:44 am (UTC)I LOVE Egyptian mythology so much! In fact, when applying, I briefly considered Isis or Seshat before deciding on playing an angel instead (I play both Gabriel and Belial, but Gabriel was my first RP character). I'm so glad to see an Egyptian god turning up! :D
Have you read American Gods by Neil Gaiman? Anubis does make an appearance in that as well and he does have a full-human appearance there in addition to his jackal and jackal-headed man forms. I assume yours is the 'original' Egyptian version and as such there'd be differences, but that book might help in regards to his blending in.
Gabriel knew Bast personally, but as far as I know he never met Anubis. He's a great cat-lover but is okay with dogs, and considering that things like the Plagues are a sore subject with him as well, this should be interesting. XD
(Have you read the Ramses series by Christian Jacq? It had an... unique take on Moses and the Ten Plagues. Basically Egypt was victorious in the end. XD But at the same time you could see the basis for the tales in the Bible, allowing for some exaggeration on the part of the Hebrews.)
Just a minor detail: in this game we generally don't use the uppercase G for 'god' unless referring to Yahweh. ;) However, I for one am really excited at the possibility of having an Egyptian god in the game. :D We need more gods! :D

Well, interacting with the angels should be interesting... What will he think of the demons?
Belial is fond of Egypt and spent quite a bit of time there, before the Romans turned up (and possibly afterwards too); do you think he would have met Anubis before?

Date: 2010-08-25 01:37 pm (UTC)Anubis and Bast seem to get along; at least they don't seem to be enemies, so he may have heard of Gabriel in passing, and so long as the Plagues aren't mentioned things could go alright.
As far as Demons go Anubis has a lot to do with the demon Ammut AKA 'Eater of Hearts','The Devourer' and 'Great of Death' but she's more like an Egyptian version of Cerberus, a demonic beast. so he won't be put of anyone for being a demon and i'm sore he'd like to meet a demon who can have a conversation.
Anyone spending any length of time would have at least heard of Anubis and seen priests wearing his mask etc, however if Belial spent anytime around any of the Cities of the Dead or where they embalmed the dead they may have bumped into each other.

Belial definitely knows OF him, as does Gabriel, but I don't think either of them spent much time around a necropolis or the embalming areas. So nope.

Date: 2010-08-26 04:13 am (UTC)Both Belial and Gabriel have spent time in Egypt and are fond of the desert. XD They'll be able to talk to Anubis about Egypt - reminisce about its geography, cultures, festivals etc - and even do so in ancient Egyptian if he prefers.
And one of Gabriel's cats is named Ta-Miu. ;) If my source was correct it's Egyptian for 'little cat' or 'little kitten' though by now she should be fairly big. XD You said Anubis gets along with Bast, but how does he feel about cats in general?
if he's tempted to chase them I will be very amused... I'm tempted to refer to him fondly as 'Anu', but then if someone applies for the Sumerian god Anu there'd be confusion. XD(no subject)

would Anubis have heard of Belial? if was in Egypt so long would any off the other gods have known him or of him?

O! and i was going to stick to the myths were Anubis is the son of Osiris and Nephthys- that ok?
